Wall of Entertainment Studios will premiere two new original series, “Substitute Teacher” and “House Rules,” on Tubi this summer. The partnership marks the UK-based studio’s first project produced in the United States.
Wall of Entertainment, founded in 2011 by actors Joivan Wade and Purcell Ascot, plans to release more than 100 episodes of programming spanning reality, comedy, game shows, dating, cooking, sketch and drama on Tubi.
“This partnership is an important milestone for us. Tubi is the first to understand our vision of bridging the creator economy and the traditional entertainment industry, providing digital talent with superior formats and a complete production infrastructure to create programming that rivals anything on television,” said Wade, co-founder and CEO of Wall of Entertainment. “We are giving these creators the opportunity to go from social media to Hollywood, taking ownership as producers, participating in intellectual property, and building their own entertainment brands, not just talent.”
Ascott, co-founder and chief operating officer of Wall of Entertainment, added, “We’re excited to bring two flagship shows to Tubi as we continue to be a part of the evolution of entertainment. A model where the next generation of TV-quality formats are built by, for, and with the creators our viewers already love.”
“Substitute Teacher,” which premieres June 25, is hosted by content creator Charles Brockman III and is described as “a character-driven comedy game show that blends sketch comedy, youth culture, and competition all into one.” Set in a high school classroom, contestants Dan Matt Smith, Hatney TV, Nia Ivy, and Lauren Ashley Beck will compete against each other through escalating rounds of trivia and physical challenges to earn points to be named valedictorian.
“House Rules,” which premieres July 16, is also a game show, featuring “two couples competing to see who really runs the house.” Hosted by content creator Lalo Benz, the show will oversee couples competing in four high-stakes rounds built around the turmoil of their home lives.
Joivan Wade, Purcell Ascott and Johnny Patterson will serve as executive producers for both shows, with Charles Brockman III on “Substitute Teacher” and Lalo Benz on “House Rules.” All episodes are co-directed by Wade and Ascot.
