The agreement grants Saraud Morissette non-exclusive theatrical and non-theatrical rights in available territories around the world to a series of films represented by the three companies, with the aim of “expanding the distribution and visibility” of Lee’s work in international cinemas, cinematheques, festivals and cultural institutions.
The effort was led by Marina Girard Mouteret, president of Lee’s production company Thin Man.
The collection will enable exhibitors and programmers to stage curated retrospectives and themed events around Lee’s body of work, while Saloud Morissette will continue to promote each title individually across the theater, festival, and non-profit circuits.
François Morissette, founder of Salau Morissette, said: “We are extremely proud and excited about this new model. Our work beautifully complements the extraordinary work that the producers, sales agents and distributors of Mike Leigh’s films have already done over the years. There is something wonderful about diving into the filmography of such a major director and rediscovering the richness, humanity and diversity of his work on the big screen.”
He added: “At a time when repertory films and curated theatrical experiences are becoming increasingly important, we strongly believe that Mike Leigh’s films deserve to live on around the world, not just as classics, but as vibrant works of work that still resonate deeply with modern audiences.”
This agreement further expands Saloud Morissette’s growing activities in the distribution of film heritage and repertoire. The company previously partnered with the Wim Wenders Foundation on a 25-film collection including “Paris, Texas” and “Wings of Desire.”
