On Monday night’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart criticized fighter Josh Hokit for saying Michelle Obama is a man during a post-fight interview at “UFC Freedom 250,” a Sunday night event hosted by the Trump administration on the White House lawn.
After playing Hokit’s soundbite, Stewart said, “Oh my god, he’s such an asshole. He’s such an asshole. I’m looking forward to his performance on ‘Comics Unleashed’ next week.”
At the beginning of the show, Stewart criticized conservative media for expressing overwhelming excitement about the UFC event, while also criticizing the celebrations in New York after the Knicks won the NBA title. Stewart played several clips of the Newsmax anchor talking about UFC Freedom 250, saying things like “I’m really looking forward to seeing this” and “I’m personally very, very excited about it.”
“Yes, Sunday night gave the president and his followers an opportunity to refute the joyful communion of teamwork in which the New York Knickerbockers embody the joyless Vegas-style ramblings of the People’s House, now reduced to a gold-plated fisticuffs center where the perseverance of a gladiator god is celebrated, a nutsack, of course,” Stewart joked.
He later added, “What a gross mockery of an event that has somehow found a way to degrade both martial arts and the dignity of our country. Who the hell broadcast something so embarrassing?”
Stewart revealed in a CBS News soundbite that Paramount, the parent company of Comedy Central, the home network of “The Daily Show,” aired the event.
Stewart feigned horror and said, “And what a great event it was. Once again, the leaders at Paramount+ are providing great content at an affordable price for all of us. I’m proud to support the Paramount family and the shows they decide to cancel or move forward with.”
