Country star Radney Foster has been forced to reschedule a series of performances after being hospitalized.
On Wednesday, the 66-year-old singer’s team updated fans on social media about his health.
A statement on Foster’s official Instagram account read: “We regret to announce that this weekend’s Radney Foster/Kelly Willis performance has been rescheduled.” “Radney is recovering from a serious infection that required him to be hospitalized. Although his symptoms have improved and he has been released from the ICU, doctors have advised him to take time away from the public to focus on his health.”
“We know this is disappointing news and this decision was not taken lightly,” the statement continued. “Please contact each venue for rescheduled dates. We appreciate your understanding, patience and support as Radney continues his recovery.”
Fans were quick to offer support.
“Take care, Radney! We need you, dude!” one user commented.
“Sending all healing vibes and prayers. Take care and get well soon,” another posted.
Foster first gained attention in the 1980s as part of the country duo Foster & Lloyd, formed with fellow songwriter Bill Lloyd. The two were best known for singles such as “Crazy Over You” and “What Do You Want From Me This Time.”
After the band disbanded in 1990, Foster began a solo career, producing such hits as “Just Call Me Lonesome,” “Nobody Wins,” “Easier Said Than Done,” and “Hammer and Nails.” Throughout his career, he has written songs that have been recorded by artists such as Keith Urban, Sarah Evans, The Chicks, Brooks & Dunn, Jack Ingram, and many others.
Foster is among a growing list of country stars who recently canceled performances at the last minute due to illness.
In April, LeAnn Rimes had to cancel a series of concerts to focus on her health.
“Due to a serious illness, I will not be able to travel or perform this week,” Rhimes shared on her Instagram Stories at the time.
“We regret to inform you that our upcoming shows in Spokane and Seattle will be rescheduled…and the good news is we’ll be seeing you again soon!”
In addition to scheduling new dates for his 30 Years of Blue tour, Rhimes reminded ticket holders that they will be notified directly “in due course.”
“All tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates and if you are unable to attend, refunds are available through the original point of purchase,” she wrote.
“I am truly heartbroken to have to change my plans. I am so grateful for everyone’s kindness and continued support as I recover.”
She added, “I look forward to seeing you back on stage soon.”
