Major Food Group, the hospitality giant behind downtown hotspots Carbone and Torici, is taking over one of downtown Manhattan’s most prestigious addresses, with a new restaurant set to open in the space long occupied by Tribeca Grill, Page Six has exclusively confirmed.

The as-yet-unnamed American tavern and steakhouse will breathe new life into 375 Greenwich Street, with MFG co-founder Chef Rich Torrisi and partners Mario Carbone and Jeff Zalaznick leading the project.

“Mario, Jeff and I have always been inspired by New York restaurants that are part of people’s lives – places that endure because they have authentic character, generosity and soul,” Torrisi told Page Six.

“That’s what excites me about this project,” he continued. “This is an opportunity to honor an extraordinary tradition of public speaking while giving people a whole new reason to walk through our doors.”

Tribeca Grill, co-owned by Robert De Niro, closed in March 2025 after 35 years as a neighborhood favorite frequented by Hollywood heavyweights, Wall Street moguls and longtime patrons. De Niro retains ownership of the historic property, beloved by stars such as John F. Kennedy Jr., Bruce Springsteen and Nelson Mandela.

“Mario, Jeff, and I happened to pass Bob and we were looking at that space,” Torrisi said of De Niro. “We talked about the vision, he understood it right away, and just like that, together we made it a reality.”

MFG is committed to reinventing the dining room with a fresh concept “created for a new generation of downtown diners,” while honoring the legacy of the original space, according to a press release.

“The importance of 375 Greenwich Street in the history of downtown New York dining cannot be overstated,” Zalaznick said.

“This is a one-time project: right place, right time, right chef.”

“We are honored to continue that tradition and help write the next chapter for one of New York’s finest dining rooms,” he added.

Rumors began circulating in March that MFG was in the process of signing a lease for commercial space. Eater reported at the time that the restaurant would likely keep its name.

Although many details remain secret, this new outpost is poised to become one of Manhattan’s most popular enclaves, joining Major Food Group’s portfolio of coveted restaurants that already includes Carbon, Torrisi’s, ZZ’s Club, The Grill, Sadelle’s, Dirty French, and more.
