Lasitt got a taste of life in the South and had an awkward confrontation with Mallory’s ex Brandon on Sunday’s episode of “90 Day Fiancé.”
Lasit moved from Turkey to Alabama to appear alongside Mallory on this season of the hit show “TLC.” In addition to dealing with extreme culture shock, Russitt was upset that Mallory was still close friends with her ex, Brandon.
The two had an awkward meeting during Sunday’s episode, but Russitt was already annoyed that Brandon suddenly stopped by his and Mallory’s house to retrieve the pet camera he lent Mallory. Mallory was hopeful that Brandon and Lashitt might finally become friends, but Lashitt bluntly replied, “Brandon, fuck you.”
Brandon is equally unimpressed, noting that there is “tension” coming from Russitt’s side, and that Russitt will have to figure it out before the party Mallory is throwing that night to welcome him to Alabama.
“Tomorrow we’re going to give him first-hand experience of life in the South, and he’s going to have to be prepared and deal with this because it’s disrespectful,” Brandon told the cameras. “And that’s one thing I don’t do, disrespect.”
Before the party, Mallory becomes angry when Lasit talks about the prejudice he faces because of his Turkish origin. She revealed that she had to disinvite some people from the party for saying derogatory things about Lasit.
“They said bad things about you because you came from a Muslim country,” she admitted. “They judge… They flatly called you a terrorist.”
Russitt told the cameras that he was “concerned” about the party and that there might be close-minded people there.
“I think Americans judge all Muslims,” he said. “There are bad Muslims, and there are bad Christians. It’s the same thing.”
Mallory broke down in tears and said if they disrespected her, she would “punch her mother in the face.”
“I’m very worried that someone will say something really cruel and disrespectful to him,” she said. “I mean, I’m scared, but I’ll never tolerate an ignorant, backwoods, uneducated mother saying stupid things to her future husband.”
But Mallory’s friends and Russitt enjoyed what Mallory called a “white trash party” to welcome her fiancée to Southern life. All guests wore camouflage, overalls, cowboy boots and trucker hats and chanted “USA” in keeping with the theme.
Ms. Russitt initially had a good time, but when Brandon arrived she became in a bad mood and told the cameras during the confessional that she “didn’t want to see him”. He stressed that it was “strange” for him to be there and he didn’t like it.
Eventually, he confronted Brandon, but Brandon was also angry at him.
“He insulted men in the South and did the most important thing of sitting at men’s tailgates uninvited, which is disrespectful and shouldn’t be done here,” Brandon told the camera.
Lashit told Brandon bluntly, “You have a problem.”
Brandon didn’t back down and told the camera, “I think it was intentional for him to be so dominant towards me. I would always choose violence and I don’t deserve that for him to do that to me.”
