Ariana Grande poked fun at her failed marriage with ex-husband Dalton Gomez on the opening night of her “Eternal Sunshine” tour.
The singer kicked off her long-awaited tour Saturday at the Oakland Arena in Oakland, Calif., and referenced her divorce while singing her 2019 hit “Thank U Next,” which is famous for singing about exes including Pete Davidson, Big Sean and the late Mac Miller.
The lyrics include, “One day I’ll walk down the aisle / Holding your mom’s hand… I want to do it just once, but it’s so bad / Make sure you do it all the way.”
After singing “I Just Want to Do It Once, I Really Bad,” Grande playfully held up two fingers and laughed on Saturday, seemingly referring to her openness to remarrying after her first marriage didn’t work out.
Grande’s “Eternal Sunshine” tour marks her return to touring after a seven-year hiatus. At one point during opening night, Grande emotionally thanked her fans as she fought back tears.
“I missed you,” she said, and the audience cheered. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“This is so emotional. I really appreciate everyone’s love,” she added.
Grande, a luxury real estate agent, and Gomez finalized their divorce in March 2024 after three years of marriage.
The former lovers had a prenuptial agreement, and Grande made a one-time payment of $1.25 million to Gomez.
She also agreed to give her ex-husband half of the proceeds from the sale of their Los Angeles home and pay up to $25,000 in legal fees.
“They came to the decision together,” a source told Page Six about their breakup in July 2023. “They’ve been having issues since before January, but they want to remain best friends.”
However, Grande, 32, appears to have called out Gomez, 30, on the song “Twilight Zone” from her 2025 album Eternal Sunshine.
In the song, Grande sings about mistakenly believing she knew the person she was dating, only to realize that was a lie.
“Was I dreaming the whole thing? / Was I just a nightmare? / In another dimension / Trapped in the Twilight Zone / Is this a black and white landscape? / If so, I’m in a world of gray,” the lyrics read.
“I hope you win Best Actor/Cause I was totally wrong about you,” she continued. “Do you know she’s not who you say she is?
Grande is currently dating her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, 34, and they are rumored to have been dating since July 2023.
