The returns were out of this world.

According to Box Office Mojo, Masters of the Universe was No. 1 at the box office on Friday with more than $11.75 million.

The film, which The Post called a “quirky toy movie,” is based on figures released by Mattel in the early ’80s, including He-Man and Skeletor.

“We’ve got barbarians with battle axes and swords, robots with laser guns, spaceships, and wizards with skulls on their faces,” director Travis Knight told IndieWire.

“I think it’s tricky material in a way. It’s weird in that way. It’s almost insane. It’s pure, uncut, Columbian-level ’80s excess. It’s totally out there.”

Sci-fi psychological horror “Backrooms” came in second place, grossing over $7.97 million on its second Friday in theaters.

The Post praised the film, which follows an alcoholic furniture store owner who wanders into another dimension, as “disturbing and clever.”

In third place was another horror film, Obsession, which grossed $7.47 million on its fourth Friday of release.

“Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act,” the final two episodes of the animated series “Amazing Digital Circus,” placed fourth at the box office with just over $4.3 million.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu came in at No. 5, earning $2.5 million on its third Friday in theaters.

The film, starring Pedro Pascal and Jeremy Allen White, is a sequel to the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” and the first film in the series to be released since 2019’s “Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.”

The film, directed by Jon Favreau, reportedly cost $165 million to make and had its worst opening weekend since Disney acquired the franchise in 2012.
