Footage has been released of Michelle Gledhill, the suspect in the murder of actor James Handy, being arrested.
Footage obtained by TMZ on Friday shows a handcuffed Gledhill (son of Handy’s girlfriend Wendy Gledhill) standing near a police vehicle as authorities search his pockets and restrain him.
The alleged killer was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and dark pants and appeared calm during the interaction.
Other Ring camera footage obtained by the outlet shows Michael, 44, walking on the sidewalk past a nearby home after the “Top Gun: Maverick” actor was allegedly stabbed to death.
As he continues his walk around the neighborhood, he hears the sound of a helicopter hovering.
Michael, who lived with his mother and Handy, made a creepy confession and called 911 on Wednesday after stabbing the longtime personality actor.
“I’m a son of man, and I just killed a man who committed a crime,” one person told a 911 operator, according to audio obtained by People.
The “Real McCoy” actor was later found unconscious in the front yard of his Tarzana home with a stab wound to the chest.
Handy was pronounced dead after Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, Michael was reportedly arrested and charged with one count of murder and is being held in Van Nuys on $2 million bail.
Before his arrest, Michael “alerted nearby responding officers and indicated that he was the person they were looking for,” according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department.
“The suspect lives at the scene with his mother, who is the victim’s girlfriend,” the statement said.
They added: “This is an isolated incident and there appears to be no risk to the public.”
On Friday, Wendy, 76, spoke out about the tragedy from her home in Tarzana, saying, “I’m just trying to get through it one minute at a time.”
She told the California Post that she “loved James and my son” and that she “couldn’t believe” her son was the suspect in the alleged stabbing.
“I’m just trying to…” Wendy said before walking back inside the house and then walking away.
Also on Friday, Wendy told TMZ that her son was diagnosed with schizophrenia last July, but had stopped taking medication for the condition “about a week” before the stabbing.
And she claimed that the actor and her son had a “generally friendly” relationship, although they “didn’t always see eye to eye.”
According to TMZ, Handy tearfully told his family, “They know I loved him very much. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry this happened. I’m still in shock. I still don’t understand.”
Little is known about the “Jumanji” actor’s personal life. His last film was in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick, and his last public appearance was at the Whitefire Theater in Los Angeles in 2017.
