Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for “Peaceful Found Peace,” episode 5 of “Dutton Ranch,” currently streaming on Paramount+.
After last week’s dismal cow-slaughter episode, it’s great to see a soft reboot of the show, as Rip (Cole Hauser) proposes to bring the Ten Petal Ranch into shape for Beulah (Annette Bening). This is a great way to bring all these players together. Let’s take a look at this week’s drama.
Oh yeah, George Jones on the radio. Great start! What plans does Rip have with Beulah? I love Beulah flirting with Rip! OK, it’s interesting that the show finally revealed the actual plot in episode 5. Looking back, the first four seem like a bit of a prologue… It’s certainly scary how much everyone exaggerates. “Please put your butt on the saddle”…Yes, sir! Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Zachariah (Mark Menchaca) have one of my favorite conversations in the “Yellowstone” universe. It sounds very deep and Western, but I can’t understand what they’re talking about either. But it’s nice to see him staring into the distance! What computer project is Beth working on? I feel like I’m dropping breadcrumbs, but I don’t follow them… Ah, back to the setting of creepy Dwight (Ray McKinnon) and his strange animals. Why did Carter (Finn Little) take Oleanna (Natalie Alyn Lind) on a date to Dwight’s exotic animal freak show? Oh, and there’s going to be some major friction when Lip asks Austin (Sterlin English) about Wes (Nakoa Dequoit) and his family’s disappearance. Love Lip fires Chet (Hart Denton) in front of everyone. Bye-bye, loser! I have no love for Chet, but it’s pretty incredible that he walked out of the bar saying the classic “fuck all year”. We’ve all felt the temptation to drop a bombshell on a colleague at some point in our lives. Whoa, what was Dwight actually doing to earn the sheriff raid? Rest in peace to the real weirdos. But the police are definitely acting too strong! I would love to try that 18 hour brisket too! Fuck! I love Beulah’s stylish golf carts. Wow, Chet is playing with fire by threatening the Jackson family. They know they can easily kill you too, right? Not to give parenting advice to other families, but have Lip or Beth ever texted Carter to see where he is? I don’t think they need to be helicopter parents to make sure he’s not in jail, for example… It’s interesting how much Lip sees Beth in Beulah… $11,000 a month seems kind of modest for all the work Lip has to do, right? Interesting conversation between Beth and Beulah. We respected each other more than I expected! Oh, this was Beth’s computer plan. interesting. Beth has great confidence in her business. I think she’s getting a good deal, but maybe she’s not? Who knows? “Beth works for me now.” Damn, Beulah doesn’t mince words…well, Rob Will (Jai Courtney) is definitely going to shit.
Cowpoke until next week!
