Jose Andrés, a chef and friend of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, has revealed how the couple are always helping others behind the scenes.
Andress, who previously appeared on Markle’s “With Love, Meghan” series, partnered with her nonprofit organization World Central Kitchen and the Duke and Duchess’ Archewell Philanthropy in 2020 to help people in need.
In comments published Friday, he told People magazine that Meghan and Harry often call or email each time a disaster occurs and ask, “What can we do here? Is there anything we can do to help?”
“Nobody knows about moments like that, and they do it often and all the time,” he told the outlet.
The Michelin-starred chef added that Meghan and Harry are “always paying attention to everything that’s going on in the world. They don’t have to do that. They do it honestly because they care.”
The chef also praised the couple’s efforts to maintain a “normal life” while in the public eye.
“They can decide to live their lives in the comfort of their own homes, but I love that they’re there even when no one is looking. They’re just there to make sure they can be part of the solution too,” Andres explained.
“So I’m very proud to call them friends.”
The author of the cookbook “Spain My Way” also noted Prince Harry’s visit to Ukraine in April to raise awareness for those supporting wounded and veterans.
“Not many people do that,” he said of the Invictus Games founder’s time in Ukraine.
Andres revealed that when he’s not helping with post-disaster relief, he enjoys a normal friendship with Prince Harry, 41, and fellow Suits alum, 44.
“When we meet and have conversations, we talk about what everyone talks about, right? Life, family, good times, new cuisines, new restaurants,” he told the magazine.
As for his family life with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, Andres told the outlet that most of it happens in the kitchen.
“They used the kitchen as a gathering place, just like any other family,” he said. “I love the way Meghan interacts with her children and food.”
