Madonna has announced that “Confessions II – The Film” will be released on YouTube on June 8th at 11am ET.
The film, directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase (Torsos), will have its world premiere Friday night at New York City’s Beacon Theater as part of the Tribeca Film Festival. Madonna will be attending the film’s premiere and speaking with Jimmy Fallon along with the director.
According to the poster, the film will feature guest appearances by Arca, Archie Madekwe, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cole Palmer, Debi Mazar, Gwendoline Christie, Honey Dijon, Joan Pedro, Julia Garner, Kate Moss, Odessa Azion, Richard E. Grant, Shy Girl, and Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon.
According to the festival’s website, “Confessions II” is “an ambitious, over 10-minute video work built around the first six songs from Madonna’s upcoming album, including ‘I Feel So Free’ and ‘Bring Your Love’ with Sabrina Carpenter.” It unfolds as a single, continuous work, weaving together interconnected music-driven sequences to create an immersive cinematic experience. A film that gave physicality to music, “Confessions II” explores the tension between control and surrender, between being seen and disappearing into a crowd. ”
Madonna is currently busy promoting Confession II, which is scheduled to be released on July 3rd by Warner Records. In April, she debuted her first single of the era, “I Feel So Free,” ahead of a surprise performance at Carpenter’s Coachella headlining set in the second week. During their set, they premiered their new duet, “Bring Your Love,” which they quickly released on streaming services.
Just yesterday, Madonna took over New York City’s Times Square for a surprise performance in partnership with Grindle, performing three songs from “Confessions on a Dance Floor” and its sequel. Coinciding with the performance, she streamed the third single from Confessions II, “Love Sensation,” along with a radio edit.
