‘Alaskan Bush People’ star Matt Brown’s ex-girlfriend Jamie reportedly “did everything she could” to work through his “personal struggles” before his tragic suicide.
A source told TMZ on Thursday that Jamie had been pushing Matt to seek professional help for months, believing she couldn’t be his “sole source of strength” during Matt’s “darkest times.”
Throughout their breakup and subsequent Matt’s death, Jamie reportedly remained concerned about Matt and “remained committed” to the reality star’s well-being.
Sources also insisted that their breakup was not Jamie’s “fault.”
In fact, a source revealed that those close to Matt saw Jamie as “a positive influence in his life.”
They said Matt’s loved ones considered Jamie a “blessing” and described her as kind, quiet, patient and very supportive.
As Page Six previously reported, Matt was dealing with a lot emotionally in the days leading up to his death, including breaking up with Jamie.
Chay Moore, a friend of the Brown family and Star Dog Champion K9, said breakup was “definitely in Matt’s head” when he saw Star on the Discovery Channel three weeks before the tragedy.
Moore said Matt was also frustrated the day they last met because his truck broke down.
“He was walking and taking buses from town to town to survive,” Moore said. “He used to take buses and things like that.”
Moore revealed that Jamie “spearheaded” the mission to find Matt’s body in the Okanogan River in Washington state.
“Matt’s girlfriend really, really pushed us to get going and get out on the water,” he told us. “I think there was a concept in her mind of where she thought he was.”
The body was discovered after a witness called 911 after seeing a man, later identified as 43-year-old Matt, playing in the Okanogan River.
On May 30, Matt’s brother Bear Brown announced that Matt had “taken his own life.”
Baer claimed that her brother “suffered from alcohol and drugs for a long time” and “didn’t want anything to do with the family.”
The Okanogan County Coroner ruled Matt’s death a suicide due to a single penetrating gunshot wound to the head.
Matt appeared in 79 episodes of Alaskan Bush People from 2014 to 2019, starring his parents Billy and Ami and his siblings.
The Discovery Channel series followed the Brown family as they lived off the grid in the wilderness.
