“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” alum Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon and wife Shayne McCant are “no longer together.”
The reality star confirmed the breakup via Facebook on Tuesday, tagging her ex-boyfriend and saying the split was a “mutual” decision that was “best for both parties.”
Mama June Shannon’s 29-year-old daughter wrote, “Yes, we are still friends and friendly with each other, but we are no longer in a relationship.”
“We ask everyone to be respectful during this time,” she continued, asking social media users “not to send hate or negativity.”
Jessica concluded, “This is already a difficult situation, and mean comments and unnecessary drama aren’t going to make it any easier.”
Later the same day, the elementary school teacher elaborated via Instagram Story, taking “110 percent responsibility” for the demise of her union.
“Things don’t work out. Things happen,” she told her followers. “There were a lot of things I could have fixed. … I know what I did was wrong, and that’s why it happened.”
Jessica added, “It hurt. We both cried. It was best to talk and work through it. Anger is part of getting through it. I think we both went through anger. We were both sad.”
Jessica called McCant, 23, “nothing but good things” and admitted that she has not yet formally filed for divorce.
“I can’t say anything bad about her. I never have and I said I never would,” she said.
McCant shared her own post on Thursday, writing, “I left my house and asked Jesse for a divorce. I have nothing bad to say about Jesse. I just couldn’t handle it anymore and that’s it.”
She insisted it wasn’t “just about the money,” explaining, “What happened and what was said on social media really influenced our decisions. … It’s what’s best for my daughter. Growing up in the public eye is not what I want for my daughter.”
McCant is particularly raising her niece Harper, with whom Jessica said she plans to stay in touch.
Jessica and McCant began dating in 2022, got engaged two years later, and tied the knot in February 2025.
In October of the same year, the two co-starred again on Mama June: Family Crisis, and footage of their wedding was shown on last month’s Season 8 finale.
In her Facebook announcement, Jessica joked that “most” people assumed the relationship was over, but her followers denied this.
“No, most people don’t get it. I just saw your wedding two weeks ago,” one person commented, while another pointed out that the two “just posted together a week ago.”
A third wondered if the pair “broke up before the wedding episode even aired.”
TMZ first reported the news that Jessica and McCant had broken up.
In addition to Jessica, June is also the mother of Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, 20, and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Effard, 26.
Her eldest daughter, daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, died in 2023 at the age of 29 after a battle with cancer.
