Joe Jonas has opened up about his lackluster audition for a previously unreleased role on The Morning Show.
“Long story short, I arrive early and they’re like, ‘Oh.’ And they do this — which was very kind… They’re like, ‘Oh, we’ve got a private room for you,'” he told brothers Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas during Wednesday’s episode of “Hey Jonas!” Podcast.
Joe, 36, revealed he was in “the saddest room you can imagine” where he could hear other up-and-coming actors auditioning “sunny all day”, adding: “They were crushing it.”
“And I go in and it just crashes and burns,” he lamented. “It was literally like I didn’t even know what I was auditioning for.”
Joe revealed that his “bad audition” was for the role of a “young anchor” who was supposed to be a potential love interest for Jennifer Aniston.
Before Joe revealed that he had auditioned for The Morning Show, Nick had some speculation that he was referring to roles he lost, such as Spider-Man and Wicked.
“You don’t have to name everything I don’t understand,” Joe cheerfully replies, before Kevin interjects, “That’s two of them.”
Nick, 33, then reassured his brother that “bad auditions happen” and questioned whether Joe considered appearing on The Morning Show his “worst audition.”
“I think ‘Wicked’ was also kind of weird,” he replied, “because we had some incredible theater vocalists, so you could hear it clearly all day long.”
Fans reacted to Joe’s confession in an Instagram clip from the podcast interview. One person suggested, “Romantic comedies need Joe,” while another wrote, “Wait, @JoeJonas auditioned for ‘Wicked’ and didn’t get the part?! Blasphemy…he would be great in ‘Wicked’!”
Others were interested in Joe’s list of failed auditions. “Actually, I need to hear all the things Joe didn’t understand,” said one person, while another chimed in: “Nick is my inner voice reminding me of my failures.”
Yet another person pointed out, “Naming everything you didn’t get is the best thing a little brother can do 😂.”
Although Joe didn’t land a role on The Morning Show, the Disney Channel alum has had his fair share of on-screen victories.
He is best known for co-starring with his brothers in the films “Camp Rock” and 2025’s “A Very Jonas Christmas,” and had a cameo in 2016’s “Zoolander 2.”
