Jimmy Kimmel got teary-eyed Wednesday while honoring his longtime friend and former colleague, podcaster and comedian Adam Carolla, at a ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Kimmel began his speech by remembering his first introduction to Carolla, which came in 1994 when the late-night star was working on “Kevin and Bean,” a Los Angeles radio show. Carolla, a boxing instructor, then called KROQ and was brought in to prepare for Kimmel’s boxing match. Kimmel recalled roasting him when “Carola” first aired. “Jimmy is 160 pounds of pure chiseled steel,” Adam told Kevin and the Bean. “Unfortunately, he weighs 225 pounds.”
“We didn’t really train. We boxed for about eight minutes, then drank some Snapple and went to lunch,” Kimmel continued. “In the end, I lost that battle, but I got a life partner. And if that sounds gay to you, it is,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience.キンメルはまた、キャロラのことを、これまで会った中で「最も面白い人の一人」であり、「私のシャーリーにとってのラバーン」とも呼んだ。
The two have remained close since their first meeting, and Kimmel became emotional as he reflected on Carolla’s career.
“As you know, Adam and I don’t really see eye to eye when it comes to politics, but I love him dearly,” Kimmel said. 「これほど面白い人と一緒に仕事をしたことはありません。私は彼を誇りに思っています…この人はゼロから努力して文字通り億万長者になった男です。信じられない人は、ショーのたびに彼がそれを言うのを聞くことになるでしょう。」
Kimmel and Carolla’s ventures include Jackhole Productions, from which they launched the Comedy Central sketch show “The Man Show” and later “Crank Yankers.” Carolla then hosted the late-night show “Too Late” on the network before starting his own podcast, “The Adam Carolla Podcast.” Carolla is also a New York Times bestselling author.
The Corolla gets a star in the radio department. In addition to Kimmel, hosts Adam Weissler and Dr. Drew Pinsky also shared remarks.
