Jennifer Lopez is truly a fan of “Off Campus.”
“I love this show because it’s so cute,” she told me Tuesday night at the premiere of Netflix’s new romantic comedy “Office Romance.”
Jenny from the Block recently made headlines with Off Campus star Mika Abdallah. The two teamed up for a fun video that recreates a scene from “Off Campus,” in which Abdallah’s character wears the singer’s legendary risqué green Versace dress. The scene and video feature Lopez’s 2011 hit song “Get on the Floor.”
“They happened to use my song and it reappeared on the charts 15 years later,” Lopez said. “When does that happen? The music business is so different now, right? That’s when we decided to do TikTok together, and it took off.”
When asked that it was a testament to the power of J.Lo, Lopez smiled and said, “Thank you.”
In “Office Romance,” Lopez plays an airline CEO who begins an affair with his in-house lawyer, played by Brett Goldstein of “Ted Lasso” and “The Shrinking.”
The film won’t be released on Netflix until June 5, but fans have already noticed Lopez and Goldstein’s on-screen chemistry and the flirtatious nature of their interactions while promoting the Ol Parker-directed film.
Not only is Goldstein a screenwriter, he also wrote the script for him and Lopez. “You could tell right away that we were friendly and easy-going, which was nice. Sometimes you meet someone and you’re like, ‘Oh, he’s a little weird, but it’s okay, we’ll make this work.'” Lopez said with a laugh, before turning to Goldstein and saying, “But that’s not the case. You’re not weird.”
“You’re the first person to say that about me,” Goldstein quipped.
“It was very easy. It was my first time and it was very easy,” he said.
Goldstein admitted that he was “very nervous” about sending the script to Lopez. “It’s all a fucking gamble,” he said. “I knew I was a big fan of hers and she was a great person, but I didn’t know if it would work or if we could make a good movie together. It was just a gamble, but I’m very happy with how it turned out.”
