Griz Chapman, best known for his work on “30 Rock,” has died. He was 52 years old.
The actor’s longtime agent, Saide A. Brown, confirmed the news to TMZ on Friday.
His wife and two children are said to be devastated.
Chapman’s cousin, Harlem Globetrotter Donte “Hammer” Harrison, also revealed on Instagram that Chapman passed away in his sleep “after many years of illness and dialysis.”
“My cousin Griz Chapman went through some tough battles in his life, but he fought with strength and dignity to the end,” Harrison said.
“A lot of people knew him as the sitcom star on ’30 Rock,’ but we all knew the man behind the screen: a good heart, good energy, and someone who made an impact on this life.”
“I am grateful that we had the time to reunite two months before he passed away. Rest assured, cousin. Your name and legacy will live on forever,” he concluded.
In addition to his work on the NBC comedy, Chapman also appeared in several other films and shows, including “Blue Bloods” and “The Blacklist.”
One of his last television credits included a role in an episode of “The Good Fight.”
He also created a series of YouTube videos known as “Grizz Chronicles” that featured him in variety sketches.
Chapman’s last Instagram post was uploaded on Sunday.
In the video, the actor is seen dancing next to a photo of actor Sean Astin from the ’80s.
