Fake earrings, real diamonds, and extra needles — Lizzo’s latest look has it all.
The “About Damn Time” singer brought a touch of surrealism to Cannes 2026’s amfAR Gala, arriving on the red carpet on Thursday in a royal blue Robert Wang dress with a pair of rings stuck into the cups of her velvet bodice and a diamond necklace dangling between them.
The trompe l’oeil earrings were complemented by a pair of sculptural gloved cuffs designed to look like another pair of hands resting on top of Lizzo’s.
Between the necklace, earrings, cuffs, and chain draped from the pop star’s chest are 2,000 laboratory-grown white diamond gemstones totaling 3,161 carats. This stunning piece of jewelry was created in collaboration with Annabella Chan, a London-based designer who has also created pieces for Taylor Swift and Mariah Carey.
Nail artist Angel Mai Lin completed the color story by painting the singer’s stiletto nails a matte chrome blue. Stylist Patti Wilson put together the entire production.
Faux body piercings appeared on the red carpet, and Lizzo’s look echoed her attention-grabbing Chapel Lawn dress at the 2026 Grammys, which featured a pair of rings pierced by a tightly bonded prosthesis attached to her chest.
Her revealing dress was an archival piece from Thierry Mugler’s spring 1998 couture show, but the original model had real piercings and did not require prosthetics.
Lizzo also performed at the charity gala, holding a cocktail on stage and singing “Don’t Make Me Love You” and “About Damn Time.”
The amfAR Gala Cannes, held at the Hôtel du Cap Eden-Roc in Cape Antibes, France, raised $20 million for AIDS research this year and was hosted by Geena Davis.
The singer teased her upcoming album on the red carpet, telling reporters: “I’m so excited. We’re trying to bring back some good, clean fun. We just want to have fun again. People need to dance, people need to laugh.”
The album titled “B–ch” will be released on June 5th.
