Sheryl Crow has opened up about how she found out her ex-fiancé Lance Armstrong was dating a “real famous actress” while he was battling cancer in 2006.
“I was engaged, I had three beautiful stepchildren, and I wanted to have a baby with this person,” the “All I Wanna Do” songstress told host Bobby Bones on Tuesday’s episode of Netflix’s “The Bobby Cast.”
“We broke up the same week I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I found out he was dating a famous actress,” she said.
“I went through about nine months of radiation treatment and grief and anger,” said Crowe, 64, who declined to give Armstrong’s name.
A representative for Mr. Armstrong, 54, did not immediately respond to Page Six for comment.
The former road racing cyclist and hitmaker started dating in 2003 and got engaged two years later.
However, the two separated in February 2006 due to Crowe’s desire to have children even though he was not ready.
According to Us Weekly, Armstrong detailed the breakup in his 2009 book Lance: How to Build the World’s Greatest Champions, writing, “She wanted to get married, she wanted to have kids.”
“It’s not that I didn’t want it, but I didn’t want it because I was just getting married and had kids at the time,” he said, referring to his first marriage to Christine Richard from 1998 to 2003 and his three children, Luke, 17, and twins Grace and Isabel, 15.
“Yet, we were working against her body clock, and that pressure broke the clock,” Armstrong continued.
The former athlete married Anna Hansen for the second time in 2022. The two started dating in 2008.
The couple has two children, Wyatt, 9, and Levi, 6.
According to the New Zealand Herald, Armstrong was romantically involved with Real Housewives of Dallas star Kaley Duber in 2006, designer Tory Burch in 2007 and actress Kate Hudson in 2008.
Crowe, meanwhile, started her own family a year after splitting from Armstrong in 2007, adopting their eldest son Wyatt in 2010, followed by Levi.
