Colin Jost and Michael Che took our breath away during the season finale of “Saturday Night Live” and treated the audience to their biannual joke exchange.
Following tradition, the “Weekend Update” anchor wrote jokes for others to read live on air, without seeing the content beforehand.
For example, Mr. Jost started things off with a joke written by Mr. Choi. “Mattel has announced a new autistic Barbie doll that will make you feel weird having sex with it.”
Che then read this joke Jost wrote: “A new study says the average length of an erect penis in this country is 6.34 inches. Well, well, that means I’m just 6 inches shorter than average.”
“Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his role in the vampire movie ‘Sinners,'” Jost said. Black vampires are just like white vampires, but the only thing they don’t like about them is the welfare state. ”
While reading the cue card, he continued, “That’s just a joke. I’m not a racist. And to prove it, I, Colin Jost, hereby agree to pay this season’s salary to Dr. Umar’s School for Black Boys. Now, you guys may not know who it is, but the brothers at home are nodding along. And if that’s not enough, we have a beautiful new ferry offering free one-way trips back to the Motherland. ”
So Choi had to make a joke about how men are less likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction if they drink grape juice. “This explains why my boyfriend is always so stubborn,” the comedian said as a photo of a child with a juice box appeared on the screen.
Anticipating that the next joke would be about Michael Jackson, Che told Jost, “You’re a terrible person.”
“Speaking of giving juice to little boys, the movie ‘Michael’ was another box office hit this weekend. Some of the Jackson family are actually in the audience tonight, so I wanted to take a moment to tell you all my real thoughts. Michael Jackson did nothing wrong! He was right to sexually abuse all of his children! And they were lucky. I would have paid him to do it. And yes, when I was 10 years old, Michael Jackson molested me,” and what it gave me was a fetish for middle-aged white women. ”
Return to Jost. “Ye has released a new album called ‘Bully.’ So try to separate the art from the artist and remember that you can make terrible music but you’re right about Hitler.”
Jost upped the ante, saying, “Okay, that joke was offensive to everyone, and I apologize. I’m willing to sacrifice the most important thing in my life: my beautiful, award-winning, world-famous…hair. That’s right, I’m shaving. Please send the barber.”
Jost laughed uncomfortably when a man ran behind the Weekend Update desk and tossed him a barber’s cloak. As the man pulled out clippers and held them close to Jost’s head, the comedian said, “Jerome, make me less beautiful.”
But before the barber could remove any of Jost’s hair, Che interjected. “No, no, no! Were you really going to do that? Hey. You’re the greatest comedian of all time.”
Exchanging jokes became a tradition in 2018 and has gotten crazier and crazier over the years. In 2023, Choi hired a fake “civil rights activist” to sit next to Jost and shake his head in opposition to every racist joke. Then, in 2024, Che forced Jost to tell a dirty joke about his wife, Scarlett Johansson, while watching live footage from backstage.
Will Ferrell hosted the Season 52 finale with musical guest Paul McCartney.
