Season 5 of “The Lincoln Lawyer” is in production, but it will be the last for the show.
Netflix has confirmed that the upcoming legal drama will be Mickey Haller’s final appearance as a broadcaster.
“All good things must come to an end, and thankfully, how it ends is sometimes up to us. Our mission from the beginning has always been to not only tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but to give that story the ending it deserves,” series creator and co-showrunner Ted Humphrey and fellow co-showrunner Daylene Rodriguez said in a joint statement. “And while it’s bittersweet, of course, it’s also a great opportunity to bring closure to this adventure and perhaps chart a new path for the future for some of the characters.”
“We are extremely grateful to Netflix and A+E Studios for giving us the opportunity to land this plane the right way,” they continued. “But most of all, we’re grateful to our fans around the world who watch and support this show. We’re committed to building a final season that will give Mickey Haller the satisfying finale he deserves, and we can’t wait to share it with you!”
As previously announced, season 5 will be based on Michael Connelly’s novel ‘Resurrection Walk’ and will consist of 10 episodes.
In addition to the news that the show is coming to an end, Netflix also announced six new recurring guest stars who will be joining Season 5. Amy Aquino (Bosch) joins as Judge Olivia Alcott. The cast includes Angela Trimbur (The Search Party, The Good Place) as Felicia, Elpidia Carrillo (The Blue Beetle, Euphoria) as Muriel Perez, Nate Corddry (The Last Will) as Jimmy Finch, Tricia Helfer (Galactica, Lucifer) as Brooke Miller, and Kia O’Donnell (High Desert, The Wedding). Crushers’) will play DDA Lucas Peralta.
The official logline for season 5 reads:
“Mickey Haller’s (Manuel Garcia Rulfo) world changes when his half-sister Emi (Cobie Smulders), who he never knew existed, comes to him with a plea to help free a wrongly convicted woman. Previously announced new guest stars include Chris Diamantopoulos, Corbin Bernsen, Diane Guerrero, Iker Garcia, Patti Guggenheim, Richard Cabral, Steve Howie, and Teresa Maria, while returning guest stars include Neve Campbell, Christa Warner, Angelica Maria, and Gigi Zumbado.
David E. Kelley created “The Lincoln Lawyer” for television and serves as executive producer. Humphrey developed the show and serves as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Rodriguez.
