Zayn Malik has shocked fans by announcing the cancellation of his latest sold-out tour.
In an announcement made on Friday, the singer shared that he had made the decision to cancel his entire U.S. tour, which was scheduled to begin on July 12th.
“To my fans: I really appreciate all the support and love you showed me with the release of the album, and more importantly, the love, prayers, and wishes for my health. I felt it, and it means the world. I’m recovering at home, and I’m fine and will be better and stronger than before,” Malik wrote to fans on his Instagram Story.
“We will have to reconsider our schedule over the next few months and reduce the number of performances on the KONAKOL tour.
“I still want to go out and see as many of you as possible. I’m really looking forward to playing these shows for you all, and I hope to see you all around the world soon. Big love, Z.”
The announcement comes after Malik was hospitalized last month due to undisclosed and unexpected health issues, forcing him to cancel numerous television appearances during the week of the album’s release.
Malik made headlines last month when he got into a shocking spat with former bandmate and close friend Louis Tomlinson.
Claims had surfaced that Malik punched Tomlinson during a violent confrontation while filming a Netflix documentary.
The pair had joined forces to film a three-part road trip documentary series for the streaming service, but the service was later canceled due to a falling out.
The incident occurred while the pair were on location, after Malik allegedly made negative comments about Tomlinson’s mother, Johanna Deakin, who died of leukemia in 2016.
“There was an argument and then Zayn made a comment about Louis’ mother Johanna,” a source told The Sun in April.
The source added: “Louis was stunned and in shock. He tried to move and Zayn attacked him. Zayn punched him straight in the face. He was wearing a ring and it cut Louis’ head.”
“He was pulled away and Louis was treated. He had a concussion.
“This happened outside in front of a large group of people. It was shocking.”
According to the newspaper, neither band member has spoken to the other since the incident six months ago.
