J-Lo is making a career transition to LinkedInfluencer.
As part of her campaign for the upcoming Netflix movie Office Romance, the queen of romantic comedies is taking the opportunity to update her LinkedIn profile and mix in some fictional jobs.
The music legend’s virtual resume reflects some of her most beloved film work. Her latest roles include a janitor with business dreams (“Made in Manhattan”), a heartbroken wedding planner (“The Wedding Planner”), a bride at a shotgun wedding (“Shotgun Wedding”) and, of course, the CEO of an air cruise in “Office Romance.”
Starring Lopez, “Ted Lasso” star Brett Goldstein and “GLOW” alum Betty Gilpin, this raunchy romantic comedy tells the story of a secret office romance and the trouble two workaholics get into when they start thinking with their minds.
(But note that we’re talking about LinkedIn here, so this new project is obviously pretty racy.)
Lopez shared the news in a cheeky Instagram video teasing her “new role.” The stunt is the latest step in Netflix’s robust LinkedIn strategy of growing fandom with a little guerrilla marketing.
For the Webby-nominated “Squid Game” campaign, the streamer allowed fans to apply to play the terrifying Pink Guard for a day on LinkedIn for a chance to attend the premiere in New York. “Emily in Paris” also received attention on LinkedIn, as her no-nonsense boss Sylvie Grateau was praised for promoting her French business style.
Over the past decade, studios have steadily shifted their focus to networking platforms. 20th Century Fox created a campaign in 2015 to showcase Liam Neeson’s “certain skills” in Taken 3. Meanwhile, multi-hyphenate celebrities like Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Alba, and Shaq are leveraging their star power on the platform to promote their latest projects.
Lopez’s update comes in time to generate hype for the “Office Romance” trailer, which will be released on Thursday ahead of the film’s June 5 release.
Let’s hope she accepts our connection request!
