Universal’s “Michael” topped the UK and Ireland box office with 11.6 million pounds (about $15.6 million), according to ComScore, marking one of the strongest debuts of the year in the region.

The studio also held on to second place with “Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” which added $1.4 million in its fourth weekend for a total of $46.5 million.

“Project Hail Mary,” distributed by Sony, came in third place, earning $1.1 million in its sixth frame for a total of $43.1 million. The entertainment film distribution company’s “The Drama” followed in fourth place with $682,000, bringing the total to $12.4 million.

Warner Bros.’ “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” cracked the top five, adding $485,000 in its second weekend to reach $2.4 million.

Further down the chart, Entertainment Film Distributors’ “The Magic Faraway Tree” came in at No. 6 with $459,000, bringing its total to $18.7 million.

Among new entries, BFI Distribution’s “Rose of Nevada” debuted at No. 7 with $232,000, followed by Vertigo Releasing’s “Exit 8” at No. 8 with $190,000. Disney’s 4K remake of Fight Club came in ninth place with $133,000.

Rounding out the top 10 was Trafalgar Releasing’s The Magic Flute – ROH, London 2026 (Opera), which added £118,000 in its opening weekend for a cumulative total of $596,000.

Looking to the future, Disney’s The Devil Wears Prada 2 will likely lead the next frame as the studio’s first release. Black Bear’s wide horror title “Hokum” starring Adam Scott will also be released in 300 locations, and Sony will bring the animated feature film “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” to theaters.

Event cinema remains a key element, with Trafalgar Releasing presenting Power to the People: John and Yoko Live in New York and Eugene Onegin – Met Opera 2026 (Opera). MusicFilmNetwork adds the documentary “Di’Anno – Iron Maiden’s Lost Singer,” and Underground Slate releases “Searching for Satyrus” earlier in the week.

Specialization and international markets are active. Conic will release “Wild Foxes,” Verve Pictures will release “Ada – My Mother the Architect,” and Bulldog Film Distribution will release “I’ve Seen All I Need to See.” Vertigo Releasing celebrates 20th anniversary of ‘Slither’ with 4K restoration, Studiocanal revives ‘Highlander’ for 40th anniversary and Bakrania Media Gujarati drama ‘Dhabkaaro’.
