Tori Spelling mourned the death of Patrick Muldoon on Tuesday by posting a tribute on Instagram and sharing a throwback photo of her former lovers.
“This post took me a few days. I wasn’t ready to write because it felt like it was real. And this shouldn’t be real,” Spelling began her lengthy post.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum recalled meeting Muldoon on a blind date, but felt she already knew him from his role on “Days of Our Lives.”
“Like every other girl around the world, I idolized the character Austin from Days of Our Lives,” she wrote. “I never confessed that to him. The person I met and ultimately fell in love with was not only a beautiful person on the outside, but the most beautiful soul.”
Ms Spelling, 52, described Muldoon as “the kindest, most caring human being”, “multi-talented” and “passionate about everything she does”.
“We shared a love of the Broncos, guitars, goofing around, playing tag, and Grease! We loved shouting out Grease. I was Sandy to his Danny!” she continued.
The “Scary Movie 2” actress also said she admired Muldoon’s close relationship with his sister Shanna Zappa, his parents, and his work ethic.
“He was a huge part of my formative 20s,” Spelling said. “We remained good friends after that! Still laughing and always caring. Decades later, when I was going through a divorce, I realized he was really a friend and a hype guy. He would call and check in on me and send me his worst jokes to make me laugh.”
“He loved it when I rolled my eyes,” she added. “Now I miss those stupid jokes.”
At the end of her post, Spelling said she saw Muldoon last summer and met his partner Miriam Rothbart, calling him “perfectly balanced.”
Muldoon dates to the 1990s. The two appeared in the 1996 TV movies Deadly Pursuits and Saved by the Bell, but they did not appear in the same episode.
Before Spelling, the “Melrose Place” actor dated Denise Richards and they remained close until his death.
During a 2025 episode of Denise Richards and Her Wild Things, Richards and Spelling called Muldoon to remind him of their past romance, but Muldoon joked, “I don’t remember the ’90s.”
After hanging up the phone, Spelling said, “Some guy stopped meeting Denise Richards because of me. Hmm. I’ve always wanted a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I’m okay with this.”
Richards, 55, paid tribute to her Starship Troopers co-star on Tuesday, admitting she was “deeply heartbroken and devastated” by his death.
“You are my voice of reason and pillar of strength, especially during the pain and heartache of this past year,” she said, apparently referring to her ongoing tumultuous divorce from Aaron Phypers.
Ms Richards added: “Because of this pain and heartache of losing you, I need you now more than ever.”
Muldoon died of a sudden heart attack on Sunday. He was 57 years old.
Rothbart found him unconscious on the bathroom floor of his Beverly Hills home. He was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics were called.
