Variety reports that “Young Sherlock” has been renewed for a second season on Amazon Prime Video.

Guy Ritchie directed the first two episodes of season one and will return to direct the first episode of season two. Hero Fiennes Tiffin returns as a young master detective.

“There’s a rare magic to ‘Young Sherlock’, with millions of fans around the world not only watching the detective story, but captivated by the origins of the icon,” said Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios. “Guy Ritchie and Matthew Parkhill have cracked the code that makes Sherlock’s childhood feel fresh, dangerous and completely addictive, introducing a compelling interpretation of James Moriarty that sets the stage for what’s to come. We can’t wait to see where they take him next in Season 2.”

In addition to Fiennes-Tiffin, the first season also starred Donal Finn, Jing Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natasha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth.

In addition to directing, Ritchie will also serve as executive producer. The series was created for television and is executive produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill, with Marc Resteghini, Dana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson, Harriet Creelman, and co-executive producers Steve Thompson and James Dormer. Motive Pictures is leading the physical production of Young Sherlock.

The official logline for season 1 states, “The charismatic, youthful and rebellious Sherlock Holmes (Fiennes Tiffin) is joined by none other than James Moriarty (Finn). He finds himself embroiled in a murder investigation that threatens his freedom. Sherlock’s first case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy and leads to an explosive showdown that changes the course of his life forever. Overseas, the series exposes the early antics of an anarchic young man who has yet to grow into Baker Street’s most famous resident. ”
