London’s SXSW and the Russo brothers’ production company AGBO are set to form a “massive” partnership for this year’s festival.
AGBO, a collective of artists, artisans and engineers working in the fields of film, television, games and immersive experiences, will take a cross-media approach to the second edition of SXSW London, making its presence known through programming that explores the future of storytelling, technology and gaming.
Anthony and Joe Russo, who founded AGBO in 2017, will be attending in person, along with partner Donald Mustard, former chief creative officer of Epic Games.
The brothers are currently in post-production on Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release on December 18th.
AGBO’s long list of major credits includes Avengers: Endgame, Everything Everywhere at Once, Extraction, The Gray Man, and the international Citadel series. Together, the brothers and AGBO have grossed over $7 billion at the global box office.
As well as “Avengers: Doomsday,” future projects include “Avengers: Secret Wars,” “Tigo,” “The Mercenary,” and “Extraction 3,” which are currently in pre-production.
“AGBO was founded on the belief that today’s storytelling is no longer limited to a single medium, but is expansive, interconnected, and constantly evolving,” said Angela Russo-Otstot, the company’s chief creative officer. “SXSW London is the global platform to bring these ideas to life. The UK has long been a powerhouse of arts, technology and games, and we’re excited to explore how storytelling is evolving across disciplines and engage with a new generation of creators who will shape what comes next.”
Katie Arnander, Chief Programming Officer of SXSW London, added: “We are very excited to be partnering with AGBO this year. This is a significant collaboration and will bring some of the most influential people in global storytelling into the program. AGBO’s focus on building a vast world of storytelling across film, games and digital platforms is perfectly aligned with the ethos of SXSW London.”
SXSW London will be held in Shoreditch, England from June 1st to June 6th
