Rumors of Sidney Sweeney’s connection to the James Bond series have not only fueled fan chatter, but also added to her reputation as one of Hollywood’s most bankable rising stars.
An association with 007, even rumored, would “bring a remarkable level of prestige” to Sweeney’s evolving brand, after The Housemaid director Paul Feig backed the blonde bombshell for the iconic role.
According to The Sun, Feig said, “I’d rather have Sidney as the next Bond.” “We’ve had some cool Bond girls, but let’s make her a super spy. She’s great.”
A link to the iconic James Bond series could elevate Sweeney’s status from “it girl” to a global brand, branding experts told Fox News Digital.
“Mr. Sweeney has already ‘arrived’ and has maintained some level of relevance for at least three years,” explained Ryan McCormick, reputation management expert and managing partner at Goldman McCormick Public Relations.
“In fact, I think the Bond series will benefit more from Sweeney than the other way around. Her role will appeal not only to core fans, but also to a curious public curious to see if she has the potential to display acting versatility we haven’t seen before.”
As talk of a possible revamp of the James Bond franchise buzzes around the internet, one industry expert has drawn a clear line between two of its most famous roles.
One crisis and reputation management expert has argued that while “Bond girl” roles have historically been career-limiting, being cast as James Bond could completely redefine careers.
“There’s a big difference between being Bond and being a ‘Bond girl,'” Dave Quast, president of EDQ Strategies, told FOX News Digital.
“While the latter has historically boxed in and typecast some actresses, stepping into the role itself would be even more iconic and career-defining. If she were cast in the role, her profile would be greatly increased rather than limited.”
While the relationship rumors put Sweeney on another level of conversation, Quast told Fox News Digital that the rumors don’t automatically catapult the “Euphoria” star into a “fully realized global brand.”
“Such a change cannot happen by speculation. It requires actually acquiring the role, playing the role and avoiding future polarizing domestic political debates that could quickly become unpopular,” he explained.
Still, Quast said the real upside may lie not in the speculation itself, but in the signal it sends about Sweeney’s place in the industry.
“There are very few downsides to being publicly associated with a legendary franchise like Bond,” he says. “It shows she is being considered at the highest level, and given the image challenges she has created for herself recently, just being part of that conversation strengthens her relevance and momentum.”
Long before the Bond rumors surfaced, Sweeney was already building a business empire — suggesting her rise wasn’t dependent on a single role. Sweeney launched the lingerie brand “SYRN” in January 2026.
The launch relied heavily on Sweeney’s personal brand and viral marketing fueled by the actress’ Instagram persona. Before venturing into the celebrity lingerie market, Sweeney partnered with American Eagle on a jeans campaign.
“Sydney’s lingerie line and successful American Eagle Outfitters campaign (which increased market value by an estimated $400 million and increased stock price by more than 170%) are just two examples of how she is more than just an ‘It Girl,'” McCormick said.
So what happens next?
McCormick explained, “If Miss Sweeney could appear in the Bond series and her particular film could receive commercial success and critical acclaim, it would take her career to another level.”
“Mr. Sweeney’s stock price is rising because she is seen as a safe bet.”
