During a recent appearance on Kid Cudi’s Big Brother podcast, Jenna Ortgia said she seriously considered quitting acting until she landed the role of Ellie Alves on Netflix’s You.
“I didn’t know what else to do,” Ortega said. “I never thought about anything else, these days, just out of curiosity and wanting a different life experience. But as a teenager, I was coming off a children’s show and didn’t know what I was going to do. I had to prove myself and meet all the new casting directors who didn’t know who I was.”
She added, “I just thought it was a good time to quit. I was starting high school and I was like, ‘It’s been a good run.’ My team and I talked about it for a few months. Then I think I booked that show, ‘YOU,’ and I went on set and I loved it and had a great time. I thought, ‘Oh, I can’t let this go.'”
Ortega started his career on children’s shows like Netflix’s “Richie Rich” and Disney’s “Stuck in the Middle.” In 2019, she won the role of Ellie in season 2 of You. Ortega’s character was Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) downstairs neighbor.
Ortega’s recent work includes starring in films such as “X,” “Scream VI,” “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice,” and “Death of a Unicorn.” She is also the face of Wednesday, Netflix’s Emmy Award-winning film adaptation of The Addams Family.
