Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba will reunite in “”.
Netflix has greenlit the third installment of the action series, with Sam Hargrave returning to direct and David Weil writing the screenplay. This story is based on the graphic novel “Ciudad” by Ande Parks. According to Deadline, which broke the news, production is expected to begin over the summer.
Netflix is hiding the logline for ‘Extraction 3’. In the first film, Hemsworth finds himself in trouble as Tyler Rake, a former black ops mercenary who embarks on a mission to rescue the kidnapped son of a drug lord. Things don’t go well when he’s on double duty. Hemsworth’s character seems to have died in the end. However, the film became so popular upon its release on Netflix in spring 2020 that the streamer brought him back for another round. The sequel begins when Tyler Rake, a survivor from the brink of death, is hired to rescue a ruthless gangster family from prison. It’s safe to assume that in the threequel, Tyler Rake will end up in another dangerous situation trying to free a relative of a dangerous man. Golshifteh Farahani will also return.
“Extraction 3” has a number of producers on board, including Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Ottstott, Michael Disko and AGBO’s Ali Costa. Wild State’s Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson. So are Hargrave Patrick Newall, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin.
This is AGBO and Netflix’s seventh film, joining collaborations that include “The Gray Man” and “The Electric State.” The companies announced two more projects: a TV series starring Omar Sy and a Korean film starring Dong Lee, Lee Jin-wook and Larisa Manobar.
“We are very excited to continue our partnership with Netflix as we further expand the world of Extraction, and we are grateful for their unwavering support of these films,” said AGBO Chief Creative Officer Angela Russo-Otstott. “We are also honored to continue our creative collaboration with Sam Hargrave, Chris Hemsworth, and this outstanding team that has built a great action series that has proven to be a true standout for audiences around the world.”
