“Drag Race: Philippines” star Misua died Thursday in the Philippines. Jason Elvie Tye was widely known by his stage name Misua.

The news was confirmed by the “Drag Race” series and the show’s production team, World of Wonder. The cause of death has not been announced.

Misua’s death occurred when she was scheduled to appear in season four of the show, which had just begun filming. The queen has not yet been announced and production on the show has been temporarily halted.

World of Wonder said in a statement: “We are heartbroken to learn that the talented Queen Misua, who was scheduled to appear on Season 4 of Drag Race Philippines, passed away in her sleep on the morning of April 2. She brought light, artistry and joy to those around her and will be sorely missed. We have paused production to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and everyone who loved her.” We have asked for privacy during this difficult time. ”

Misua’s family posted a tribute on Facebook: “Jason was our beloved son, brother, friend, and mentor. Above all else, Jason was a star. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and close friends.”

According to her bio obtained by Variety, Misua, a beloved queen in the Philippine drag community, describes herself as “a talented and creative queen from Cagayan de Oro whose roots in drag are fashion, artistry and self-expression. A graphic designer and performer for eight years, he is known for creating nearly every aspect of drag himself, from costumes, hair and nails to props and visual content, reflecting extraordinary creativity and insight. detail. ”

“A proud member of House of Lafiya, Misa finds strength in community and surrounding herself with like-minded artists who share her passion for growth, ambition, and creativity. Her drag name was inspired by her grandfather’s comfort foods, and speaks to the personal and heartfelt nature of her artistry.”

Her application further states, “Known for her striking visuals, fashion-forward perspective, and magnetic presence, Misa brings light, joy, and ambition to those around her. She considers herself a creative force and a star, and dreams of inspiring others to work hard for what they want and keep dreaming.”

Season 3 of the series aired last year and Maxie was the winner. Kiana was the runner-up. “Drag Race: Philippines” was announced to air later this year in October 2025.
