Director Gene Falaise, who directed Kevin Spacey’s first feature film after his acquittal, “Control,” will focus on World War II in his next film.
The as-yet-untitled project will be set in the British island of Guernsey and will center around the island, which was occupied by Germany during the war.
Falaise will write and direct. Emily Hasseldine will produce with her team at Cupsorg Pictures.
Filming is expected to begin on location later this summer, and producers are in talks with the island’s governing body to bring the story to life. The cast will be announced soon.
“As someone who grew up on Guernsey, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to tell an original story set in the lesser-known occupied Channel Islands,” Falaise said. “Equally important to me is to bring the work, if possible, to the island itself, not just as a backdrop, but as something that the whole community can participate in and be proud of.”
Falaise directed Spacey in “Control,” a thriller about a vengeful man who hijacks a government official’s car in 2023. Spacey, who did only voice acting for the role, recorded his role in London while awaiting trial for sexual assault. He was acquitted of all charges.
Falaise’s last project was the thriller film “Nightmare”.
