Jenny McCarthy solved a medical mystery.
Four months after describing the terrifying disease that left the actress with a tumor in her eye and a tooth falling out, she explained exactly what caused her symptoms on Maria Menounos’ Heal Squad podcast.
The 53-year-old’s problems with severe mycotoxin and mold toxicity began when a root canal she had at age 20 was not “thoroughly cleaned.”
McCarthy said Tuesday that she developed a jaw bone infection caused by “three small toxic substances hidden under (her) wisdom teeth.”
“There was still an infection there and the bone was grafted over it, so I was doing well despite the infection in the bone,” she added.
Despite having multiple oral surgeries to remove her teeth, McCarthy “kept getting infected.”
Her remaining symptoms included “severe” insomnia and leg cramps that were so severe that she would “wake up crying.”
The “Masked Singer” judge went on to say that she had a tumor in her eye with a “tiny lesion” that “looked like the top of an eraser filled with the pus of the worst whitehead.”
She said as much in a November 2025 interview with People magazine.
“I had one infection, which turned into another, and then a tumor appeared in my eyeball,” McCarthy told the show last year. “My tooth fell out and my implant fell out.”
The former “View” co-host revealed at the time that she had undergone nine surgeries, “was on antibiotics for a year” and “only eats soft foods.”
McCarthy quipped, “People should actually feel a little sorry for me!”
She surmised that they had finally “made it through the storm.”
McCarthy gave an update on her treatment on Tuesday, saying she has been on an “intense mold treatment protocol” for three months and will “probably” last a year.
The former Playboy model admits she takes “100 different supplements” but still has “a long way to go”.
