Ryan Gosling may be heading to Salem.
The three-time Oscar-nominated actor capped off a week-long interaction by accepting Deirdre Hall’s invitation to visit the set of Days of Our Lives and praising the longtime soap star.
Gosling appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast while promoting “Project Hail Mary,” and said that Hall’s character, Mallena Evans, particularly caught his attention because he grew up watching the long-running drama. He specifically pointed to the show’s possession storyline and recalled how it shaped his appreciation of the craft.
“They don’t get the love they deserve,” Gosling said of soap actors. “The amount you have to memorize the night before is like 10 pages of dialogue. There’s only one take, but that’s an impossible scenario.” He added that watching Hall go back and forth between “an ordinary person” and “someone possessed by a demon” was “an incredible acting lesson.”
Hall, who has played Marlena since 1976, thanked Gosling in a video message a few days later and invited her to visit the set. “I’m just thrilled to be recognized and said well,” she said, noting that the cast shared the clip with her backstage.
Gosling agreed in a follow-up video posted to his “Project Hail Marys” Instagram account with partner Evan Mendes, calling Hall an “OG acting inspiration.”
“This is a very enthusiastic yes to a very heartfelt invitation,” he said. “I’m going to thank you in person… It wasn’t Marlon Brando. It wasn’t De Niro. It was you.”
However, your visit may require adjustments. There is currently no set filming schedule, and Peacock said the show will not be filming next week.
“Project Hail Mary” is now in theaters and new episodes of “Days of Our Lives” are streaming on Peacock.
