Free streaming service Tubi has announced its latest YA romance set in the world of competitive video games.
“Game On” will star Sky Katz (“Surviving Summer”) and Case Walker (“The Other Two”), as well as video game legend Nolan North, known for his voice work on video game series such as “Uncharted” and “Assassin’s Creed,” as well as his recent role in Peacock’s live-action series “Hysteria!”

“Game On” will be featured at Tubi’s IAB Newfronts presentation on Tuesday, and the streamer is also expected to announce other breaking news.
According to a press release, “Talented gamer Casey (Katz) is poised to win her high school’s first esports tournament. But when she discovers that her online nemesis is Theo (Walker), an attractive freshman with whom she’s starting to have a crush, Casey goes undercover and plays video games. As her supportive father reminds her of who she is beyond the headset, Casey’s false feelings become reality and her carefully calculated plan begins to unravel.”
The YA-focused films are part of Tubi’s larger strategic shift to serve that market.
“‘Game On’ is an outstanding addition to Tubi’s growing slate of YA Originals, immersing viewers in the world of competitive gaming with an authentic coming-of-age story about identity, vulnerability, and connection,” Adam Lewinson, Tubi’s chief content officer, said in a statement. “We’re excited to work with up-and-coming talent like Skye Katz and Case Walker, and gaming icon Nolan North, to bring Jem Garrard’s smart and insightful script to life, fusing both YA and gaming fandoms.”
Jem Garrard (“R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead”) writes and directs “Game On,” which is produced by Blue Ice Pictures. Lance Samuels, Jem Garrard, and Sky Katz serve as executive producers. The film is scheduled to go into production this month.
