Justin Timberlake became quite the comedian after his DUI arrest in the Hamptons.
Footage of the singer’s June 2024 arrest was released on Friday after legal attempts to prevent the arrest were unsuccessful. In a light-hearted moment after the incident, Timberlake, 45, joked about how the document he was asked to sign listed his race as “white.”
After being asked to look over documents, he looked up at the officer and asked, “Are you white?” looking confused.
When the policeman laughed, he said, “You’re just kidding.”
Timberlake himself chuckled and added, “Just kidding.”
The Grammy-winning singer was cheerful enough during the encounter with the police, but looked in disbelief when told he would have to spend the night in jail.
“You guys are wild,” he said.
After a night out with friends that night, Timberlake was pulled over by police for ignoring a stop sign and swerving between lanes.
At the beginning of the approximately 20-minute video, he is pulled over by a gray 2025 BMW and responds when asked to complete several tests.
“This is like a tough test,” he told the officers, appearing confused by the instructions.
He then stumbled several times trying to walk in a straight line.
“My heart is beating,” he said.
After he was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of a police car, a female friend arrived and tried unsuccessfully to free him.
“Are you going to arrest Justin Timberlake now?” she later begged. “I liked ‘Bye Bye Bye’ or ‘Sexy Back,’ so could you please do me a favor?” Please let me ask you just one favor! ”
Timberlake signed a plea agreement in September 2024 that reduced the DWI charge to a non-criminal traffic violation.
Before finalizing the agreement, the “Rock Your Body” singer twice pleaded not guilty to the original charges.
His lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., previously asserted that the singer was “not intoxicated” at the time of his arrest.
“The police made a number of very serious mistakes in this case,” Burke told Page Six a month after his client was arrested.
