Erin Barrier has been promoted to senior vice president of communications at Walt Disney Studios, filling the role previously held by Paul Roeder.
In his new role, Barrier oversees global communications strategy across Walt Disney Studios and the company’s various productions, including Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures. The move comes as Disney begins a change in leadership at the top of the company, with former Disney parks chief Josh D’Amaro taking over as CEO from Bob Iger. Ms. Barrier spent more than 15 years with the Walt Disney Company, most recently serving as vice president of communications for Walt Disney Studios, where she led corporate communications.
Previously, she served as vice president of communications for the consumer products business, where she oversaw franchising, licensing and retail communications, leading global campaigns including Frozen Fan Fest, Star Wars: Force Friday, Pixar Fest, and Black Panther: Welcome to Wakanda. Prior to that, he held a series of leadership roles within Disney Consumer Products.
Mr. Barria began his career at Golin, where he was promoted to senior account supervisor and joined Disney in 2012. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in political science from San Diego State University.
