Demi Engeman appeared to criticize Taylor Frankie Paul by quoting her words about “happy families” and “revenge” after the season of The Bachelorette was canceled due to Paul’s domestic violence allegations.
The “Secrets of a Mormon Wife” alum shared the alleged jab at her former co-star via her Instagram Story on Thursday.
“The bills are paid. My husband is fine. Our marriage is strong. Our children are happy and healthy. I feel very well off,” Engeman, 31, wrote in a since-deleted post.
“My version of peace that no one can destroy, no matter how hard they try,” she added with two emojis. “The best revenge is to live well. I will die on that hill forever.”
However, a source told Page Six that Engeman’s post was in honor of something she shared on an episode of her podcast, “Disgraceful,” released Thursday.
In an episode of the podcast, Engeman talked about how she was “in the midst of my own healing and mental health journey” since stepping back from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and how it was “the best decision” for her and her “personal health, well-being, peace, and sanity.”
The Hulu star promoted an episode of her podcast with a quote from her Motherhood Corner on her Instagram Story shortly before the post in question, sources said, adding that she ultimately deleted the post so her followers wouldn’t mistake it for a swipe at Paul.
Page Six has reached out to Paul’s representative for comment.
It was revealed earlier this week that filming for Season 5 of Mormon Wives had been halted following allegations that Paul and ex-girlfriend Dakota Mortensen were involved in a domestic violence dispute late last month.
Shortly after, TMZ released video of another fight between Paul and his 33-year-old ex-boyfriend in 2023 that led to the reality star’s arrest.
ABC was scheduled to premiere Paul’s season of The Bachelorette this Sunday, but ultimately decided to cancel the season in the wake of the horrifying abuse video.
“In light of the new video that was just released today, we have made the decision not to move forward with a new season of ‘The Bachelorette’ at this time. We are focused on supporting our families,” the network told Page Six in a statement.
A spokesperson for Paul said: “We are extremely grateful for the ABC’s support as our priority is the safety and security of our family.”
The representative continued, “After years of enduring extensive emotional and physical abuse and threats of retribution in silence, Taylor has finally found the strength to confront her accusers and is taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from further harm.”
As for Engeman, she and Paul often feuded in the past, particularly during season 3 of “The Secret Life of Mormon Wives.”
Engeman’s strained relationship with Paul and other Hulu reality stars ultimately led to her leaving the show after season three, but she appeared in several episodes of the current season four, which aired earlier this month.
