Inspired by classic Victorian-era couplets, Zendaya wore the same dress she wore to the 2015 Oscars for Tuesday night’s wedding-themed premiere of “The Drama.”
“I was brainstorming with[stylist Law Roach]about what to do with the theme dress for this movie, and I remembered the saying, ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,'” Zendaya told Variety at the premiere of The Drama. “That’s why I thought I’d bring it home.”
Reminiscing about the 2015 Academy Awards, she said, “It was such an important moment for me, for my community, for my loved ones, and it felt right. And it also happened to be my wedding dress, so it worked out.”
The Drama, from writer-director Christopher Bolgli, stars Zendaya as Emma Hardwood, a bookseller from Louisiana, and Robert Pattinson as Charlie Thompson, director of the British Museum. In the movie, the two are just days away from getting married, but just before the wedding, their relationship takes a turn for the worse. A24 revealed the characters in a fictional engagement announcement published in the Boston Globe.
“The Drama” is Borli’s second collaboration with A24, following 2023’s “Dream Scenario” in which he co-starred with Nicolas Cage. Known for his high-concept and often extreme psychological dramas, Borli’s other feature films include 2017’s “Drib” and 2022’s “Sick of Myself.”
Zendaya has a busy project lined up for 2026. On April 12, the third and possibly final season of “Euphoria” will premiere on HBO. On the movie front, he is scheduled to star in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” which will be released on July 17th. Also on the horizon are Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Dune: Part 3, which will be released on July 31st and December 18th, respectively.
