Tom Holland is once again dressed as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in the first trailer for Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The fourth Spider-Man movie in the MCU will be released in theaters on July 31st.
‘Brand New Day’ will be Holland’s first theatrical appearance as Marvel’s wall-crawler since the 2021 blockbuster ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ The film grossed over $1.9 billion worldwide and also introduced Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Sony version of Spidey into the MCU. Well, Brand New Day shakes up Spider-Man’s status quo, giving him a shiny new suit for Holland’s fourth solo film and seventh appearance in the Marvel Universe.
At the end of No Way Home, Peter Parker makes a huge sacrifice to save New York City and the multiverse from being torn apart, which was accidentally caused by Doctor Strange’s spell that brought Spider-Man villains such as the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus from another dimension into the MCU. To dispel the magic tearing the universe apart, Peter agrees to make everyone in the world forget their true identity (which was revealed by Mysterio at the end of “Spider-Man: Far From Home”). That means his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya), best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon), and everyone in between forget that Peter is Spider-Man. Alone and grieving the death of his aunt May (Marisa Tomei), Peter dons a new cartoon-accurate red and blue suit and sets out again to save the day.
“Brand New Day” features several new and returning faces from the Marvel Universe. In addition to Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Michael Mando’s Scorpion also returns from Spider-Man: Homecoming. The cast also includes Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Tramell Tillman (Severance), Liza Colon-Zayas (The Bear), and Marvin Jones II, who plays gangster Tombstone.
