Critically acclaimed cyber-heist thriller ‘Lifehack’, which premiered at SXSW in 2025, is now in theaters in the US
The film, which currently has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and was nominated for two British Independent Film Awards, will be released nationwide on May 15th, with North American rights acquired by Triple Media Films, known for its theatrical re-release of the cult classic Dogma, in partnership with Iconic Event Releasing.
Lifehack, Irish director Ronan Corrigan’s feature directorial debut co-written with Hope Elliott Kemp, is from Timur Bekmambetov, producer of Unfriended, Searching and Missing, and is produced by Screenlife Liverpool, alongside Joan Kushner, Sasha Kretsov and Bazelevs. Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender will executive produce with partners Daniel Emerson and Connor McCaughan at DMC Films.
Inspired by true events, “Life Hack” follows Kyle and his crew as digital Robin Hoods who hack scammers and steal from hated people on the internet, all for the comfort of their bedrooms. But as they pursue a notorious crypto billionaire, their biggest cyber heist forces them into a world that’s no longer crypto. The film also stars Georgie Farmer (Wednesday), Yasmine Finney (Heartstoppers), Roman Hayek-Green (Sex Education), content creator James Scholz, and Jessica Reynolds (Kneecap, Outlander).
In their review, Variety praised the film as “genuinely entertaining and ultimately heart-pounding,” adding that it “finds a deft balance between heist elements and quieter moments for the characters, all of which proves to be highly entertaining. Thanks to a techno soundtrack that keeps things moving, the film never slows down even when it takes a breather.”
“Ronan is a special filmmaker and he did a fantastic job on Lifehack. We’re very proud to be a part of that at DMC and continue our work supporting emerging talent in Ireland and the UK,” Fassbender said.
Director Corrigan continued, “This film was a love letter to my teenage years growing up playing games, and to all the crazy true crime stories that have come out of the online space. Making this film was like pulling off a heist with a small crew. I’m so excited for it to be released in theaters!”
Director Bekmambetov said, “Most films miss the mark on what it’s like to be young today, but this one hits the mark. Made by an incredibly talented cast and crew, all in their 20s, you can feel their raw, unfiltered energy in every frame.”
“‘Lifehack’ feels incredibly current,” said Mark Rupp, CFO/COO and co-founder of Iconic Events Releasing. “This is a smart, high-stakes thriller that connects with today’s audiences, and we look forward to bringing it to theaters nationwide this May.”
Highland Film Group will be in charge of overseas sales of “LifeHack.”
