She grew up in a musical family in Massachusetts.
Hashian was raised in Massachusetts by his parents, Shiv and Suzanne Hashian. Her father was the drummer for the rock band Boston for many years. In a December 2021 interview with Billboard, Hashian spoke about growing up surrounded by music and how her father’s discipline shaped her own work ethic.
“Even after his band had already disbanded, he practiced in the drum room every day,” she said. “Seeing him practice every day, it became part of the purpose for me: ‘He practices every day, so I have to practice every day.’
She attended Emerson College.
Ms. Hashian attended Emerson College in Boston, where she studied public relations and communications. While there, she became part of a small circle of student musicians who recorded music in their dorm rooms. In an interview with Coveteur in October 2018, she recalled how that environment encouraged creative experimentation.
“There was a group of kids who went to the same school as me, Emerson College in Boston,” she said. “We formed this little collective and started turning our dorm rooms into recording studios.”
She said it was a campus award contest that inspired her to take songwriting seriously for the first time.
“There was a[school]show called the Emmys, and it was a version of the Grammys or the Emmys. Me and this kid who called himself ‘Reality’ recorded a song. We ended up winning the award that year,” she said. “That’s when I thought, ‘Okay, maybe I should start thinking seriously about this.'”
She initially worked behind the scenes in the music industry.
After graduating, Hashian did not immediately pursue a career as a recording artist. Instead, she worked as a creative sync coordinator at Warner Music Group and then in the music department at Paramount Pictures, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She eventually released her own music.

“I’ve always been drawn to the same type of music: beautiful R&B music,” she said. “We were born in the ’80s and grew up in the ’90s, and we had the best classic R&B groups. That was the pinnacle of R&B.”

In addition to his solo work, Hashian collaborates on music related to Johnson’s film projects. She co-wrote Nas Tokio’s song “On The Run”, which appears during the end credits of Red Notice. She also directed the music video for Eric Zane’s “Exile,” which was featured in Black Adam.
