HBO has officially announced the start date for Season 3 of “Comeback.”
Lisa Kudrow’s comedy series will debut on HBO on March 22nd at 10:30pm ET/PT and will be available to stream on HBO Max. HBO is touting season 3 as the final season, but given the show’s tendency to return, we’ll see if that’s true.
Kudrow returns as former sitcom star Valerie Cherish. The new season picks up more than 10 years after season 2, with Cherish now starring in a new show (written by an AI) and trying to make her Hollywood dreams come true.
In addition to Kudrow, the cast also includes Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, Damian Young, Tim Bagley, Matt Cooke, Jack O’Brien, Ella Stiller, John Early, Barry Shabaka Henry, Abbi Jacobson, Tony Macht, Brittany O’Grady, Zane Phillips, Julian Stern, and Andrew Scott.
The series is created by Michael Patrick King and Kudrow, who serve as executive producers along with John Melfi and Bucatinsky. The comedy series debuted on HBO in 2005 and returned for a second season in 2014.
Although “The Comeback” didn’t find a dedicated audience when it first premiered, it developed a strong cult following over the years. This led to HBO bringing the show back for a second season, which received critical acclaim. Kudrow is a two-time Emmy nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for The Comeback, and King was nominated for Outstanding Director in a Comedy Series for Season 1.
