Virginia Giuffre’s family is grateful that Prince Andrew has finally been arrested.
“Today, our broken hearts are finally healed by the news that no one, not even royalty, is above the law,” Giuffre’s siblings Skye and Amanda Roberts, Danny Wilson and Lanette Wilson told Page Six in a statement Thursday.
“On behalf of our sister Virginia Roberts Giuffre, we would like to thank the UK Thames Valley Police for their investigation and arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.”
“He was never a prince. For survivors all over the world, Virginia did this for you.”
Giuffre accused Andrew of sexual assault in 2021.
She claimed that Epstein raped her on three separate occasions starting when she was 17 years old as part of Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
Andrew denied the charges and the case was settled out of court in 2022 for an estimated $12 million.
Before her death in September 2022, Queen Elizabeth stripped her son Andrew of his military titles and patronage.
Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025 at the age of 41.
She was hit by a school bus and claimed she only had “a few days left to live” weeks before her death.
However, Giuffre’s claims were called into question after the Western Australian Police Force (WAPF) said there was only a “minor collision” between a bus and a car in Near Gaby, Australia, and police said there were “no reports of injuries as a result of the collision”.
Giuffre hit back at doubters as her family claimed she was “in a critical condition while undergoing treatment.”
SOAR Foundation was discharged from the hospital six days after the crash. She died later that month.
Andrew was arrested on Thursday morning (also his 66th birthday) on suspicion of misconduct in office for allegedly forwarding trade secret documents to Epstein.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to life in prison.
Officers detained Andrew at his new home, Sandringham Estate, in Norfolk, England.
The former Duke of York has come under fire for his links to convicted sex offender Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 at the age of 66.
Bombshell documents released by the Justice Department last week in connection with the Epstein case included a photo of Andrew lying on top of an unnamed woman.
Other files allege that Mr. Andrew, who was Britain’s special representative for international trade and investment from 2001 to 2011, allegedly sent Mr. Epstein a report about his 2010 trip to Vietnam and Singapore.
Trade envoys must keep their travel details confidential even when they leave their duties under the Official Secrets Act.
British police confirmed they were “assessing” the situation following the written accusations about Andrew.
Due to his association with Epstein, Andrew was stripped of his title and honor and evicted from his home in Royal Lodge last year.
After his brother’s arrest, King Charles issued a statement expressing “deep concern” over the charges.
The cancer-stricken monarch also insisted that the authorities have his “full and wholehearted support and cooperation”.
“Let me be clear, that’s the way the law should go,” Charles, 77, said. “As this process continues, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further on this matter. In the meantime, my family and I will continue our duty and service to you.”
