A new state-of-the-art movie theater with seating for up to 100 has opened at the West Los Angeles headquarters of Variety’s parent company, Penske Media Corporation.
The theater features Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision technology and is available for premieres, screenings, and events.
Nelson Anderson, Senior Vice President of Creative, worked closely with the Dolby team. “Their engineers built this theater to provide a fully immersive experience,” he said. With a 43-speaker system, the screening room has “the most channels available, so when you’re in the theater you really hear 360 degrees of sound. You can really hear and experience what’s around you.”
Los Angeles-based firm RIOS oversaw the interior design of the theater and concession area.
“With unparalleled sound and screen quality, this state-of-the-art theater brings stories to life in an immersive way that honors the artistry of filmmakers and provides audiences with a best-in-class experience,” said Jay Penske, Chairman and CEO of Penske Media Corporation. We know this amazing addition will be a valuable asset not only to PMC’s portfolio, but also to our partners across the industry, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with creative people.” community. ”
Jerry Lewis, PMC’s senior vice president of operations and finance, added, “With an open mind, we are excited to offer our brands, studios, streamers, and network partners a special screening venue here at PMC’s Los Angeles headquarters to showcase their content to some of the industry’s most influential people. This theater is the perfect blend of comfort, design, and the latest technology.”
Anderson also highlighted how the new screening room will raise the bar for people living in the West Los Angeles area. “We wanted to make sure that filmmakers and people who live and work in West Los Angeles didn’t have to go all the way to Hollywood to have a cutting-edge experience,” he continued. “We wanted the theater to reflect the elegance and high performance of every other element in the building, consistent with the overall fit and finish of the new office space.”
The space also includes an elegant bar and concessions space, as well as a third-floor amenity deck that can be used as additional entertainment space for events. The third floor deck can also be used for pre- and post-film activation deck experiences.
