Days after Taylor Swift revealed how Travis Kelce was involved in Chris Lake’s “Oparite” remix, the couple celebrated the project’s No. 1 spot on the iTunes charts.
Both commented on Lake’s post regarding the song’s milestone.
Lake previously shared a DM with Kelsey about the project, which Swift reposted.
Taylor Swift’s “Opalite” remix with DJ Chris Lake was released on iTunes two days ago, and the song quickly shot to the top of the platform’s charts. Lake reflected on the success of her collaboration with Swift, days after she shared on Instagram how her fiancé Travis Kelce helped make the project a reality. Both Swift and Kelsea commented on Lake’s post, and Kelsea’s statement in particular stands out as a great example of how supportive he is of Swift’s career.
Lake wrote, “I woke up to #1 overall on iTunes 🙂 @taylorswift I also uploaded a studio session to YouTube that put together @taylorswift’s official “Opalite” remix. To listen, click the link in my profile and download the remix 💎.”
Swift commented, “These videos make me as happy as your remixes. I’m so excited that my fans like them too!! Thank you!!”
Kelsey also posted a comment, writing: “Topping the charts in no time!!🔥🔥Join us for a studio session now!”
Their exchange came shortly after Swift shared a screenshot of Kelsey and Lake’s DM conversation, where they discussed the project. “Confirmed, Travis is my internal contact,” she captioned an Instagram Story posted Friday.
Lake contacted Kelsey in January, writing that he would “try” on a remix of “Oparite.” Kelce admitted that he’s a huge fan and couldn’t help himself (or the emoji) when he first heard the remix. “Hey, how did you get it all together so quickly?” he asked. He added that Swift also “loves it! Her team said they’ll be in touch as soon as possible.”
Lake wrote in his own post with the full conversation, “When @killatrav and @taylorswift told you about the official remix, you did it 🙂 My ‘Opalite’ @taylorswift official remix is now available for pre-order on CD. Stay tuned for more information about the release. (Don’t worry, I have permission from Travis to post these :))” Here at Swift’s Buy Lake’s remixes and versions by other artists at. site.
Kelce’s involvement in the remix provides a rare glimpse into the role the Kansas City Chiefs player has played in Swift’s music career, beyond serving as her muse and support system.
In October, she spoke further about how supportive they are about each other’s careers in an interview with BBC Radio 2. The singer denied rumors that she would quit her music career after marrying Kelce.
“I love the person I’m with because he loves my work and loves how fulfilled I am by making art and making music,” she said. “That’s the coolest thing about Trav. He’s so passionate about what he does, so I’m passionate about what I do, too, and that’s what brings us together. It’s not at the point where he’s like, ‘I’m really mad that you’re still making music, that I’m signed to, that I knew you liked, that you were going to stop doing it, and that you’re still making music.'”
The support goes both ways, she added, revealing that their careers actually have a lot in common. “Being able to support each other and the polarity of how different our jobs are is the most fun thing in the world,” she said. “But there are also a lot of similarities. We both do three-and-a-half hour performances at NFL stadiums for a living, as a job, as a passion. We both do three-and-a-half hour shows at NFL stadiums to entertain people. When you’re in the stadium, it’s the locker room. But when he’s in the exact same stadium, it’s the locker room. For him, it’s the locker room. For him, it’s the game, but for me it’s the show. We both have teams and we both compete in a fun way. I just love it. ”
