ZDF Studios has signed a multi-year deal to provide over 1,200 hours of drama to Hungary’s TV2 Group. Free TV, pay TV and VOD rights for Hungary will allow broadcasters to broadcast packages on their own linear channels and streaming services.
This package emphasizes well-recognized German brands suitable for weekday stripping, themed scheduling, and on-demand stacking. This is a volume play aimed at keeping the schedule filled with proven titles.
The slate spans library classics, long-running TV movie collections, and contemporary procedural dramas from the ZDF Studios catalog. Headline titles include the timeless titles “The Black Forest Clinic” and “Derrick,” alongside romantic TV movie labels “Rosamunde Pilcher,” “Inga Lindstrom,” “Spring Fever,” “Lena Lorenz,” and “Katie Fforde.”
TV2 also features animal-based family titles such as “Our Charly” and “Hello Robbie,” as well as crime and adventure series such as “SOKO Wien” and “Alpine Rescue.” It also includes medical dramas such as “Mountain Medic” and “Dr. Nice.”
Mirela Nastase, director of drama at ZDF Studios, said the deal strengthens the two companies’ long-standing partnership and brings together “some of the most successful and beloved productions”, adding that she hopes Hungarian audiences will embrace the title “with the same enthusiasm that it receives around the world”.
Gabor Fischer, TV2 Group’s chief content officer, said high-quality drama was at the heart of the group’s audience proposition and the ZDF Studio package would “significantly enrich” TV2’s content offering “across all platforms” by bringing established series brands to audiences nationwide.
