American ski racer Breezy Johnson’s boyfriend proposed to her today at the end of the women’s super-G at the Winter Olympics.
He incorporated Taylor Swift lyrics into his proposal, and of course Johnson said yes.
The singer noticed this and left a sweet comment on Instagram congratulating the couple.
Team USA alpine ski racer Breezy Johnson has already won gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics. But today, when she completed the women’s super-G in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, she had another amazing milestone in store. It was her boyfriend Connor Watkins’ proposal.
Today, we captured a video of that moment featuring Taylor Swift’s twist. Watkins popped the question with a ring and a piece of wood featuring lyrics from Swift’s song “The Alchemy.” “Honestly, who are we to fight alchemy?”
Swift noticed and left a comment on Instagram, where Johnson shared the engagement news.
Johnson wrote, “Hey guys…meet Connor! My ex-boyfriend! and now fiancé!!! 💍Thank you everyone for making this moment possible. It was everything I dreamed of. Just like Connor!”
In the comments, Swift quoted another lyric from the song “Torchard Poets Department,” writing, “‘Where’s the trophy? He’s running up to me now.’ Congratulations!!!”
Johnson shared a screenshot of it on her Instagram Story, writing, “I’m dead.”
In an interview with NBC News, Watkins said his proposal was more than a year in the making and was “far beyond anything we could have imagined.”
Johnson added: “I might have told him I just always had a dream of getting engaged at the Olympics.”
Swift’s comments are a nice bonus, but this isn’t the first time Swift has supported an Olympic athlete during the Olympics. She shared a video message to all athletes during the opening ceremony, saying:
Hello, I’m Taylor. I would like to send a message to all athletes participating in the Olympics. I just wanted to say thank you, it’s so inspiring to know your stories and see the sacrifices you’ve made, the determination, the hard work, the passion, everything that has led you to be so great at something. And I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done to get me to this point in life. And I’m grateful that you’re taking us all on this journey and that I get to watch you do this.
I wish everyone good luck, safe travels, and a great Olympics. I hope that this experience will be a treasure for the rest of your life. good bye.
