“Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie posted a video message on Instagram Monday about the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, saying, “We are in a time of despair.”
“We believe our mother is still out there,” Savannah Guthrie said in the video. “We need your help. Law enforcement is working around the clock to bring her home. We’re trying to find her. She’s been taken and we don’t know where she is. And we need your help.”
she continued. “So I just come to ask for your prayers. No matter where you are, even if you’re far from Tuscon. If you see anything, hear anything, anything that seems at all odd, please call law enforcement. We are in a desperate situation and we need your help.”
Nancy Guthrie went missing on January 31st, and on February 2nd, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office declared her disappearance a crime. Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators found “concerning” evidence at her Arizona home and believed Nancy Guthrie “did not leave on her own.”
On Thursday, the FBI, which is working with the Pima County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation, announced a $50,000 reward for anyone who can provide information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s “recovery and/or the arrest and conviction of those involved in her disappearance.”
“The FBI has agents, analysts and specialized staff working day and night with our partners in the Sheriff’s Office,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Heiss Janke told reporters. “We have deployed additional operatives and agents from our Phoenix office.”
Nanos also spoke at a news conference, saying authorities had not identified any suspects or persons of interest.
Savannah Guthrie posted an emotional video on her Instagram on Wednesday. In it, she and her two brothers, Camron and Annie, asked their mother’s kidnappers to send any signs of life. In a follow-up video Saturday afternoon, the three said they were willing to pay for Nancy’s reinstatement.
“We received your message and we understand it,” Savannah Guthrie said in the video. “We now ask you to return our mother to us and celebrate with us. This is the only way we can have peace. This is very precious to us and we will pay.”
